Reiki is a Japanese system of healing for mind, body, and spirit. Translated as “Universal Life Energy,” Reiki uses the hands of the practitioner to channel life energy (Ki), guided by the universe (Rei), into another person. The life energy then helps to clear physical, mental, and emotional blockages caused by unreleased stress and trauma. Reiki seeks to heal, harmonize, and restore order to the body where vital energy has become unbalanced.
What to Expect During a Reiki Session
Reiki is a very gentle yet powerful treatment. During a Reiki session the client lies comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner places her hands on or just above the client’s body, using a variety of hand positions, with the intent to channel "Ki". The client can expect to become deeply relaxed, and may tune into subtle sensations in the body as energy channels begin to open. A Reiki treatment leaves the client feeling calm, energized, alert, and with a greater sense of general well-being.
