Danielle Ouimette, LMT

As a massage therapist, my passion is helping my clients to improve their well-being and vitality, and to find inner balance of body, mind, and spirit.  I am fascinated with the healing process.  I believe that fostering a strong connection between mind, body and spirit awakens your own healing mechanisms from within, and allows you to more perfectly realize your true potential.  If you are striving to heal an injury, recover from chronic pain, manage stress, relieve tension, improve posture, flexibility, and circulation, or become more in touch with your body and mind, I would love the opportunity to help you.  I am honored to be part of your healing process.

Education & Training
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Nationally certified by the NCBTMB and licensed to practice in the states of New Hampshire and Maine. I graduated from the McIntosh College Massage Therapy Program in 2006, and am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners.  I am also a Reiki I practitioner and hold a B.A. in Earth & Environmental Science from Wesleyan University.

Background
I began my career as an Environmental Scientist, motivated by a love of nature and the desire to foster appreciation and respect for the natural world.  Soon after graduating from college, I suffered an athletic injury and struggled for several years to find effective treatment.  My journey eventually led me to the world of natural healing, and to an amazing experience with bodywork and manual therapy.
My recovery from this injury sparked my interest in Massage therapy and bodywork.  I have been involved in athletics throughout my life, and competitive training in gymnastics, soccer, and track fuel my fascination with the human body and its mechanics of movement.  Figure drawing and yoga further enhance my appreciation for the human form.  Massage therapy became a natural path for me to affect positive change for the earth and its inhabitants, and to connect people to the unlimited possibilities of natural healing.

Specialties
I currently practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  I take an integrative approach to treatment, and draw from massage and bodywork techniques including Deep Tissue massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular technique, Thai Yoga Massage techniques, Swedish Massage, Muscle Release Techniquesm, and Hot Stone Massage.  I offer individualized flexibility training to my clients to enhance recovery and efficiency of movement.

Other Interests
I love nature and the outdoors and am truly grateful for the time that I spend hiking and biking in our beautiful White Mountains, and for the summer days at the ocean.  I am an adventurer at heart and enjoy traveling with my husband to explore foreign landscapes and cultures.  I also spend much of my free time practicing yoga, bodysurfing, writing poetry, enjoying music, and drawing.
